Doc Mieu Base located in Gia Mon hamlet, Gia Phong Village and next to National Highway 1A, 3km from Gio Linh town. For making this electronic system, 47 American military scientists advanced in a meeting in July 1966 leading by general Mc Namara. The expense for the elaborate electronic system was USD 800 million. In order to protect it, they used the well-trained forces, such as invisible cock, furious buffalo, bat etc.; they usually move troops deeply into the population areas raided the revolutionary bases and people.
To resist the enemy army's destruction and terrorization, The Liberation Arm Forces shelled 1,000 shells of 100mm over Doc Mieu Base and destroyed more than 1,000 enemies, annihilated 58 military vehicles and 5 helicopters. Many means of war and Mc Namara's wall were annihilated and step by become in vain. It was completely destroyed by the LAF in 1972 and Quang Tri completely liberated.
